YOUTH CONFERENCE REPORT
By Sister Deborah Hall
Young Women's President
Twenty of our Young Men and Women participated in a memorable and spiritual Youth Conference held this week at Aspen Grove. Jennifer Wheeler, Mason Fernandez, and Angela Wise headed up our planning committees with support from our great Youth Leaders and amazing Bishopric. All of the youth made great contributions to the planning and execution of the activities and experiences.
Monday morning we met at 9:00 a.m. at the church for a message from Bishop Hansen about our theme, taken from Joshua 1:9, "BE STRONG and OF A GOOD COURAGE".
Next, we enjoyed a beautiful hike to Stewart Falls. Then back at Aspen Grove, the camp counselors led all of the wards in team building games. We had a great team cheer, awesome shirts and fabulous lanyards with our schedule. All of these things were done by our incredible youth. Our ward team was AWESOME!
Following the games we enjoyed free-time, dinner and then a fireside by Robert Millet about Agency. Afterwards we played more get-to-know you games and activities before heading to bed.
Tuesday started bright and early with scripture study, breakfast and workshops. Brother and Sister Snarr took us on a Relation "ship" cruise and talked about the differences between the Friend "ship" and the Court "ship".
Next Brother Packer taught about Missionary Work and the Plan of Salvation. Sister Phillips was up next with a workshop about planning for the future and education. Following lunch Brother Phillips gave our final seminar about "Doing What Matters Most".
The youth then participated in a service project making humanitarian kits and tying fleece blankets followed by free time and dinner.
FREE TIME . . .
We enjoyed a final fireside then ward Family Home Evening by the Bishopric. The combined ward dance later that night was a great success.
Wednesday morning after checking out we enjoyed breakfast and an outdoor testimony meeting.
I want to thank all of the Youth who participated: the great Young Men and Young Women Leaders, the wonderful speakers and our incredible Bishopric for making all of this possible. As a youth leader, it was so rewarding to see all the youth grow closer to each other and to their Heavenly Father.
